Simon Legge is a 10th Generation Farrier and is qualified as an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF).
With 30 years in the industry, Simon is equipped with the knowledge and experience to provide the most professional and expert care for your horse.
Simon passed his Diploma with the Worshipful Company of Farriers (DipWCF) in 1999, following a 5 year apprenticeship with his father at Brickfields Horse Country and Shire Horse Centre on the Isle of Wight.
Simon went on to become an Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 2016. This higher level examination is the national benchmark of a farrier's ability to use horse shoeing skills in the treatment of conditions of the foot and equine limb, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of anatomy, conditions and diseases of the foot, as well as radiological interpretation and competence in modern remedial techniques.
Simon has been qualified as an approved trainer and has seen over 10 apprentices successfully established in the trade in the UK and abroad.
Simon has competed to a high standard in farriery competitions at many county shows, before progressing to become a judge at shows including the New Forest Show, Newbury Show, Kent, 3 Counties and the National Shire Show.
Simon provides a full range of farriery services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, using a range of modern and traditional techniques to ensure the best performance for your equine.
Coming from a long line of farriers, and having grown up working within his family’s equestrian centre on the Isle of Wight, Simon has a naturally empathetic and intuitive approach to work sensitively with horses of all ages, size and discipline.
